Child Safety Standards
Our app is for adults only, and there is no version of it that is meant for anyone under 18. This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to on child sexual abuse and exploitation, how we enforce them, and how to reach a person about it.
Adults only, enforced in the database
Creating a profile requires a date of birth, and an account with a date of birth under 18 cannot be created. That limit is not a form check that a modified app could skip — it is a constraint on the account table itself, so the server refuses the row. Our Terms also restrict the service to people 18 and over, and the app is rated for adults in every store it appears in.
What is prohibited
Child sexual abuse material and any content or conduct that sexualises a minor are prohibited without exception. So is using the service to contact, groom, solicit or arrange to meet a minor, sharing or requesting sexual content involving anyone under 18, and using the service at all if you are under 18. There is no warning tier for any of this: the account is removed.
Reporting, from inside the app
Every group profile and every conversation can be reported from the screen you are on — long-press a message, or use the report action on a group. A report can carry a written explanation, and it reaches us directly rather than a queue that closes itself. Reported groups are hidden from discovery, and a report is never erased by the reported account being deleted.
You can also write to us. A person reads that address, and anything concerning a minor is handled ahead of everything else.
What we do when we find it
We remove the content and terminate the account. Where the law requires it we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with law enforcement. We preserve the material and the account records needed for that report rather than deleting them, and we do not restore a terminated account on appeal where the finding involved a minor.
Legal compliance
We comply with the child safety and CSAE laws that apply to us, and with the child safety standards of the app stores we distribute through. Where a local law is stricter than this page, the local law governs.
